Who said valentines were only red and pink? In bright colors, these Heartbreaker Valentines work great for boys and girls. So get out your scissors and stapler, because today, you’re tearing up my heart….. (cue N Sync)
Each valentine is stapled together to create a pouch full of secret candies. And the only way to find them, is to break my heart!

Needed:
* colorful paper
* computer printer
* stapler/staples
* scissors
* candy
Start by printing this template from your computer.
Two options….

2) Copy and paste the image below to a word document. You can enlarge it as much as you like. I fit this exact image on a horizontal 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper

I chose to print on bright colored paper so the Heartbreakers work for both boys and girls. Cut out your hearts with scissors, trying to keep some of the black outline in there:
Another option: print to white paper and let the your kids color the hearts themselves:
Most of all, make sure your kids check out what you’re doing. If they’re old enough to cut or color, get them involved! If they’re only old enough to eat candy, give them a bowl!
Staple around the outside of each heart, leaving an opening at the top of the heart for inserting candy (or, use your sewing machine to sew around the edge…though it might be more difficult to sew it shut. Or you might even GLUE the hearts, but they will need to dry overnight):
Since my daughter is taking these to her preschool friends, we wrote each child’s name on the front and had her “write” her name on the back (with assistance, of course):
Then, stuff them with your favorite candy! Small candies work best. This is a great step for little,
or big hands to do:
Keep pushing the candy around in there so you can fit as much as possible. Everyone wants a jackpot candy explosion, right?! Then staple the opening shut with your stapler:

If staples aren’t your thing, tape around the edges to seal the heart shut or glue the edges together (let the glue dry completely before filling with candy).
And if you’re feeling very color-conscious, coordinate the candy with the hearts:
And make sure Dad entertains you for 5 minutes while trying to juggle m&ms (not bad, not bad).
Then gather up your hearts and you’re ready for the school party!
When it comes time for breaking the heart…..
