Last week, while rummaging through a bag, I found this onesie I had purchased a year ago at an Old Navy clearance sale. Quite dreamy to find forgotten treasures!
Though it was a size 6-12 months (crazy), I cut off the bottom, added a skirt, and it became Goose’s 4th of July dress:
Just a simple skirt of gathered muslin but embellished with plenty of girly ruffles.
Strips of mulsin were cut 2 inches wide, gathered in the middle and sewn right on top of the skirt. I wanted a frayed look so the edges were left raw…but a top-stitch was sewn around the edge of each ruffle so it can only fray so far, with each wash.
Similar to the onesie dress made last year, I like this look better. Guess I’m into ruffled strips of fabric lately?
We spent our lovely 4th of July weekend with both sets of grandparents, cousins, friends, and lots of festivities.
Since my sewing energy’s been girl-central lately, baby brother wore his store-bought Rolling Stones tee…unlike his Red, White, and Disco outfit of last year (which was auctioned off in the NieNie auction. I hope the winner is enjoying it….and maybe your little guy wore it this year? If you happen to read my blog, I’d love to hear!)
Sorry little Owen. One of these days I’ll cater to the boyish trends.
Happy 4th of July! We feel very blessed to live in a wonderful country. Three cheers for the red, white, and blue.
I am so into refurbishing my girls’ clothes right now. Super cute! Thanks!
This is so cute!
