Piggies, Picnics, and Pom Poms

Just when I think the projects can’t possibly get any cuter… the second round of Fiesta Fun fabric tour projects rolls in. YOU GUYS.

Fiesta Fun fabric collection by Dana Willard for Art Gallery Fabrics - dolls sewn by aubreyplays

I haven’t spent a lot of time making dolls. I’ve made a few (and of course, I love making their baskets), but these dolls that Aubrey Plays creates are a whole other level of creativity.

This little piglet family she created with Fiesta Fun is everything. These three are sisters, and trust me, you have to visit her post to see the two other sisters… and the leg warmers… and the tiny picnic … and how she hopes the pigs might throw their own picnic fiesta (and invite her along to eat veggie tacos with them).  Aubrey’s such a cute writer.  And she makes me want to sew dolls.

Speaking of picnics. How much do you want this beautiful quilt at your next one??

Wow this photo is pretty.  I love the clean look of modern quilts like this, made by the lovely ladies at Simple Simon & Company—who are hilarious btw, and so full of love.  Liz and Elizabeth are sister-in-laws who now have the same last name, and they have this way of making you cry from laughter and cry from a touching story, all in the same 15 minutes.
But emotions aside, this would be a perfect beginner quilting project.  And guess what….(drumroll)….there’s a tutorial for it!  So you can make one too!

Next in our round-up are kid’s clothes—which you know I love.   It’s exciting to see how different fabrics are interpreted and paired with notions and trims.  The touch of a button or a small bit of lace are such icing on the cake.
Tami from SewSophieLynn made TWO amazing outfits for her daughters…

Next, a Fiesta Fun roundup wouldn’t be complete without a little something-something in the Mexican Dress Midnight knit fabric.  Ahhhh. This fabric is one of my favorites in the collection.  And I love what Deborah of Whipstitch made for her daughter.

Fiesta Fun fabric collection by Dana Willard for Art Gallery Fabrics - Linville Romper made by Whip-StitchDeborah is one of my very first “blogging” friends I made about 10 years ago….and man I love that lady.  She is brilliantly smart, cleverly witty, and sewingly amazing.  Are any of those proper English?
Deborah would know.
And if there’s a sewing question you have, she has the answer! (p.s. she teaches online classes)  She’s always on an adventure with her kids and family.  I was so impressed at their winter adventure to the Grand Canyon.  And THOSE BAGS SHE MADE.  Dude.

So.  For the fabric tour, Deborah went for the knit and made this awesomely comfy romper.  How cute is that keyhole opening in the back??  This pretty much sums up why I love sewing with knits.  And Deborah even gives some tips for that – cause she’s totally great like that.

Fiesta Fun fabric collection by Dana Willard for Art Gallery Fabrics - Sturdy Fabric Basket sewn by woodlandschoolAnd for our final project this round, my friend Courtney made a basket of napkins! Next to quilts, there is no better way to show off a collection of prints than a set of napkins. Beautiful AND practical.

For the basket, she used Lillyella’s Sturdy Fabric Basket pattern (which is free). Great minds, because that pattern was also featured as a baby room organizer in the Fiesta Fun look book.

These little baskets are perfect to highlight a couple of your favorite prints, and they are SO useful.

Did you miss the first Fiesta Fun Fabric Tour roundup? It was just as awesome.
