Nice! I was expecting you to show us how to make the pocket pieces and then sew ’em into the seems. Definitely nice to have different options for different fabrics and skirts. Every time I watch a video I can’t wait for naptime so I can go sew. =)

Hi Dana! I have both your shirt and kids shorts patterns and I really love them! I was wondering if there is a way to make these type of hidden pockets with a pair of racer shorts? My kids love the racer shorts but also really love pockets! Thankyou!
Hmmm. good question. I think that would be kind of hard, because of the way the seams are sewn on the racer shorts…but you could totally try it out! See if you figure out a clever method and let me know 🙂 haha

Thanks Nicole! And yes, that would work on a simple skirt…you just need to make sure you have two side seams, since the pockets go into the seams.

Hi Gunter! You might have to pick apart the side seams, but you can likely do it the same way. Another option would be to add patch pockets, like the back pockets here: https://www.madeeveryday.com/2013/02/tutorial-kid-pants-and-shorts-with-back-pockets.html/

I’m very new to sewing and I was wondering if you had a video for this particular skirt showing a step by step tutorial. I am a visual learner and have difficulty understanding by just reading what to do. I did purchase this pattern but I’m totally lost. I love watching your tutorials and have made a few things already but that was because you showed me how. I am a total failure in reading and understanding a pattern. I would love to make this skirt, it’s adorable!
