I have been meaning to buy this pattern for weeks, but finally got it today! I helped my daughter make a tie for Daddy for Father’s Day tomorrow! I can’t wait to see her face (and his!) when he opens it! Thanks for creating a super simple pattern and making her day!

      Thanks Kristie!
Yes! I love simplified versions of projects that seem complicated….if that makes sense πŸ™‚

    Dana,
Love the video. If you use silk for the outer, what should you use for the lining?

  10. 13) Ashlee

    Dana,
I just purchased your tie pattern and made a tween skinny tie, but I feel like its too short for my 10 year old. The mens size looks way too long! Help! I was wanting to get them done for Easter. Is is easier to add length in the middle of the tween size, or cut off some from the men’s size?

    • 14) Dana

I would add an extra couple inches of length on each of the Tween sizes…just use a ruler to draw a parallel line out 2 inches, so that it looks similar to how the pattern looks.
Then use a long ruler to draw the long lines from that end, back down to the front of the tie. Sorry that’s hard to explain without a visual.

Or, use the mens size, and sew the sides in a bit to make it even skinnier.

Thanks so much for your quick response! I understand and will try that. Thanks!!

Hi Dana, I am a long-time follower of your blog and have done so many projects with your patterns and tutorials. Thank you for being my original inspiration to learn how to sew. I recently made matching ties for my husband and son using your pattern and they turned out amazing – I had to share: https://www.izzaroo.com/blogs/izzaroo-blog/diy-matching-outfits
