and I’m gonna be in trouble.
Cause all his homemade clothes look like this! yikes.
My BOY is growing up. He’s 5 years old!
And this little guy is gone:
So…..it’s time to replace the grown-out sleeves, high-water shorts, and old looks.
Yes! Let’s Celebrate the BOY!
Can you believe it’s been almost 2 years since Rae and I joined forces??…dedicating a few weeks JUST to BOY projects?
If you’re new to CTB (Celebrate the BOY), here’s the scoop:
3 years ago Made by Rae and I thought there should be more BOY projects in blogland. So we started a month-long series where we and guests bloggers shared boy clothing and project ideas. Check out the detailed archives page HERE and check out Rae’s archives HERE.
This time around we’re taking it more casual and we’d love you to play along.
Here’s what’s happening:
• CTB will be two weeks long and starts NEXT MONDAY! 2/25
• Projects will be from MADE and Made by Rae (no guests)
• Rather than having guest posts, we’ll be sharing round-up posts of YOUR stuff! So please add your Boy projects, tutorials, creations to the CTB Flickr Group.
• Hashtag your photos to Instagram and Twitter with #celebratetheBOY I’ll do some roundups on IG as well! (you can find me @danamadeit)
• If you haven’t sewn any Boy projects, no worries! That’s what we’re here for. Hopefully our BOY weeks will inspire new ideas in you and you’ll feel the itch to sew along while we celebrate.
• Share the BOY love on your blog! Grab one of our large graphics (the one above or below) or grab a smaller button below for your blog sidebar. And link them all to the archives page HERE. I’ll be adding new projects to that page as we go along.

Okay. Let’s do this thing!
See you BOYs back here on Monday (with other posts on the blog in-between of course)
Have a great Monday!
Woo! Just finished organizing my new sewing/craft room and I am ready! 🙂
Just bought the cutest boy material for a boy, Can’t wait to start and join in!
90min shirt and pants here I come 🙂
Woohoo! Can’t wait!
I am *so* excited that CTB is back! My son is in need of some new clothes for spring and I want to make, rather than buy, them this year. I love, love, love this series.
This is great, and perfect timing. I feel like I’ve been on a streak of girls-clothes-only lately, so my son will be happy to get some wardrobe upgrades! I am almost finished with a flip side vest for him. I decided I didn’t have the right buttons on hand, so need to run out for some tonight. And, I already have a few more fabric combinations for vests percolating in my mind! Maybe my son will be wearing nothing but vests this spring, ha ha! 😉
I am super ready for this! My son for is 4 years old and he grew a lot so I need fresh ideas to sew new clothes for him. Can’t wait!!!
yay! Can’t wait! My almost-four-year-old boy has outgrown all the cute stuff we made when you did this a couple of years ago. Thanks Dana!
Oh perfect timing. My blog is almost a year old and the other day I posted my very first post with a pair of boy pants…. (Not first post ever but first post with boy clothes 🙂 that turned out to be great for girls too – my girl was the ‘model’ 🙂 I will for sure add them to your Flickr Group. And I will be following along and get more inspiration for clothes for my nephew.
yay!!! I could not be happier that ya’ll are celebrating the BOY again!
can’t wait to get some good ideas for my 2 year old!

YAY!!!! My first baby boy is due in June and I need some serious inspiration for boy sewing projects!!!
So excited about Celebrate the Boy! I finished a few projects for my son. Also, I was just working on a list of boy related things to do. One of the ladies at church had a baby boy and I got invited to the baby shower so I was looking for ideas. I can’t make it to the shower (working) but still wanted to do something for the baby. Your timing is great!
Oh good, I was just searching earlier in the week to see if you were still doing this!
Aww yeah! I still have my little dude’s Conando shirt from last time- his little sister has worn it a couple of times! 🙂
Yay! Been planning a pair of shorts for my little man. Finally the impetus to get sewing.
Very excited!!
Yay! I love celebrate the boy, can’t wait!
OMG! HE IS SO BIG!!! WHAT HAPPENED??? (yeap, I own you the milanesas and other recipes from here!!! 🙁 Lazy mind or bussy mamma? Both?) Love you! Mara
So Fun! I love celebrate the boy. looking forward to new inspiration and hopefully sharing some projects i have been hoping to get to. 🙂
Woohoo!! My big boy always gets the short end of the sewing stick 🙂 So excited for you and Rae to team up again!
WOuld love to see some ideas for bigger boys, my guys are 7 and 8 and are wearing 10-12 and 14-16 boys sizes. All I see is girls and toddler boys stuff!
Jeuj!
So exciting!
With only boys to sew for I’ll definitely be joining in the fun.
Can’t wait.
Yay for boy series!! I’m beyond excited!
YEAH!!! super excited (since all I have are boys-3 of them)
YOU JUST MADE MY DAY!!!!!! I am so excited!!!!!! I have one boy at home and maybe another one to be born any day now. or it could be a girl, but it’s celebrate the boy time!!!! YAY!!!!! I can’t wait to see all the fun things to make for my one boy, or maybe two boys!!!
Yay, looking forward to it!
This was the sole reason I turned my laptop on this morning. Just finishing up some cute little dresses for Eddie & her BFF Iggy today and then I am going to think of something epic for the Boy!!
Yay! It’s what I’ve been waiting for. I’m sure my son is looking forward to me getting inspired for him at the sewing machine too. Bring it on!
Yay! I don’t even have any little boys, but I always get so excited for this. Maybe because I’m more likely to dress my daughter in the kind of rad boy clothes you and Rae post than in tutus and frilly junk? 🙂 Anyway, so awesome! Woot!
I am so excited this year, because I have a boy to sew for. Woohoo!
Yeah! One of my favorite series!

WOOOOO! It’s here it’s here! Can’t wait. Also, this made me realize how long I’ve been following your blog – definitely before the first CTB. Has it been 4 years? I think it has! Wow.
Favourite tradition. We’re in!
Yay! So looking forward to this.

My, he’s looking so G.Q.!
SWEEEEEET!! I am going to clean my craft room and closet right now! Looooove it! 🙂
YES!!!!!! So excited…last time you did this, my first boy was just a little over a year…now he’s 3 & I now also have a 9 month old baby boy. We’re ready!!
Great idea! There are very few boy projects compared to all the little girl ones, and I have 3 sons! Looking forward to everyone’s ideas.
YES! You have no idea how happy this makes me.
YEAH!!!!!!! my fav!!!
Yay! I’m so excited. I have 3 little boys (and a daughter). My oldest boy just turned 6 yesterday and he loves when I make him clothes. I can’t wait to see what ideas and tutorials you and Rae have in store for us.
I’m excited to have found you! I had all girls, now learning to sew for my little grandsons is a challenge.
Yeah! So glad it’s back!!
Awesome! My son is 5 also. He’ll start Kindergarten this fall.
And his little brother is almost 2.
So looking forward to boy projects! 😀
Yes!!! As a mom of 2 boys I am super excited for this! Thank you!
I love this series on your blog. It’s my all time favorite.
I have twin boys that are 2! I should make them some cool shorts for the summer that fit over their bulky cloth diaper bums! Can’t wait to see what’s in store!!
Very excited that Celebrate the Boy is back and looking forward to seeing the tutorials and getting some ideas! With 3 boys aged from 3 to 7 years old, I need it!
Yay! Can’t wait!!
I’m so excited! I honestly don’t sew much for my older son (he’s in size 12 and grandma went WAY overboard on clothes) but since we got rid of all of his clothes from when he was little (never expected to have another boy!) I’m starting fresh with this little guy. I’m so excited to participate! 😀
Oh — I was hoping and hoping you were going to do this again! I need some fun new projects for my boy’s birthday in a few months! I can’t wait to see what you come up with this year!
Oh I needed this, I’ve been in a bit of a creative slump lately!
Yay! I’m soe xcited about this! I agree, we are still in need of more boys patterns. I already did the lined pants by Made, and I love them! I am looking forward to a whole bunch of new inspiration around here. Whoop whoop! Let’s do this!
Soooo excited. I originally came across your blog looking for things to sew for boys, as I had all boys at the time. I now have a two month old daughter, but I still love to sew for my boys. (And they love it too!)
Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a
bit, but other than that, this is wonderful blog.
A fantastic read. I’ll definitely be back.
