Living in Texas: Lake LBJ

I was going through old photos and came across these pics from the first month we moved to Texas.Ā  Some new friends had invited me to a girl’s weekend at Lake Lyndon B. Johnson—or Lake LBJ as the Texans call it—and of course I couldn’t pass up girl time and funky chotskies in the cabin.

So if it’s cold where you are today….maybe some lake views, braided bread, and garden gnomes will remind you that spring and summer are on their way!

    BEAUTIFUL!

Makes me think of Up North Michigan, we have a cabin in Tawas City. Talk about the best place on earth šŸ™‚ Can’t wait for summer to begin we are currently at 55 and raining with the chance of SNOW again tonight šŸ™ Spring needs to come, this is the coldest winter we have had in a long time. I ran in a 5K (Detroit Corktown Races) on the 16th and we were in 16 degree weather, 2 years ago it was like 85 and sunny I think last year it was 55 and sunny.

And yes, Michigan is so gorgeous in the summer. Mmmm.

Missing Michigan summers too. šŸ™ Even my die hard winter loving son (7 years old) is longing for spring.

  2. Since I’ve been following your blog, I have been wanting to visit Texas. It’s look like a great place to be.

Oh, and I just adore that mug picture. I love the vintage green and orange on white.

  3. too bad it’s on the other side of the world for me, other wise I’d stop by lake LBJ šŸ™‚

I want to sit right there at the end of the dock. All day. with a book. with no one who calls me Mom. šŸ™‚

Haha. Isn’t that the truth! Girl’s weekends are all about no one calling you Mom šŸ™‚

  5. Dana I love these posts about TX. I grew up in Granbury right outside the Grapevine/Fort Worth area and it brings back so many awesome memories!!! We moved to FL when I was 13 and I’ve been here for 12 years now, but nothing compares to good ol’ Texas! Btw I wish I could sit my little girls in a bluebonnet patch šŸ™‚

aw. I’m so glad these bring back memories! There’s nothing like thoughts of a good childhood šŸ™‚

Beautiful! We are a military family and my husband just transferred to Ft. Worth. I can’t wait to join him and explore Texas! The kids and I are still stuck in New Orleans trying to sell our home šŸ™

      Exciting!
Good luck with the home sale and welcome to Texas! šŸ™‚

I am a lifelong Texan and enjoy your pics. Glad you are enjoying the state. Just a little note – some of us Texans call it SOB but that’s a whole other story.

  8. 14) Dana

haha. I’d love to hear that story too šŸ™‚

  9. My in-laws have a place on LBJ and we love going there during the summer… but we don’t have those sweet mugs. šŸ™‚

  10. Looks lovely!….and I have that same green shirt. šŸ˜‰

Oh wow, such a lovely view. I’m from St. Lucia in the Caribbean so we have no lakes like this here; we just have the beaches. I would just love to sit on that patio all day looking out at the beautiful scenery.

Sadly, Lake LBJ is one of the few lakes in TX that still has water. I love the TX Hill Country. My husband is the Project Manager of the Hwy 281 bridge there in Marble Falls.

Dana, thanks for another great post on Austin area Texas. Looks like we’ll be moving there in April. These posts really help me feel good about where we are headed! Thanks for sharing!

Also, did someone make the bread or was it from a local bakery? Looks a lot like the Swiss Zopf I make!
