Colorful Clothespins

Hanging clothes on a clothesline just makes them feel…..cute.
I see you guys doing this in your photos so maybe you feel the same. Perhaps it reminds us of a older time when clothing hung out in the sun to dry? Maybe it feels a bit vintage? Maybe the clothes just look more colorful?

Whether you’re hanging your creations up for a creative craft fair or you simply want to take an interesting photo, add more color to your line with spray-painted clothespins!
Maybe you’ve already done this? I tried it out back in Celebrate the BOY month when I shared 5 Easy Steps for Dyeing Fabric. The yellow chain needed a pop of red. So I brought out the spray paint. Easy fix.

And then when preparing for the Whipstitch Lounge weekend, I tried it out again in a variety of colors. I needed a way to display my clothing projects so I choose a clothesline full of colorful items and colorful pins.

No rocket science but here’s what you do…..

Buy a packet of wooden clothespins from Walmart, Target, etc. They’re usually in the ironing section with ironing boards, hampers, supplies, etc. for cheap….about $1.50 for 50 clothespins.
Lay them on out. Choose fun colors of spray paint. Spray on one side (let them dry)….
and spray the other side.
Yippee! All sorts of fun colors.
This would have made any 1950s housewife excited about laundry, right?
well, maybe.
Choose your favorite color,
And hang your clothing up!
Simple.
And colorful. Two words I like.

    LOVE IT!
The spray paint doesn’t run off at all in the rain then?? I’d be worried about that handwash top or expensive dress!

i’ve mostly only used them inside but I wouldn’t think the paint would run off. I haven’t noticed that with spray paint on outdoor furniture.

      • Hi Dana! This looks like a really good idea – I just have a question similar to Rachel’s – does the paint go everywhere on the wet/damp clothes? Or doesn’t it, since it’s spray paint?

Would the humidity make a difference, do you think? We live in a humid and hot area, and we hang our clothes out in the sun or under the veranda.

        Thanks!

Does paint run off your house? Does paint run off of your walls? Ceiling? Does paint run off of your neighbor’s house? Does paint run off on your car? šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Hi! What kind of spray paint did you use & where did you get your spray paint from?

    • 9) Dana

Just normal spray paint from the hardware store.
