The good ole days

Instagram down? I’m still around!

And this post serves no other purpose, than to say…..with Instagram and Facebook being down all day (which I realize is frustrating for many) I’m feeling all the good feels, of the good old blogging days…..when you couldn’t find someone in 10 different places at once.

When, if you wanted an update on friends, or info on a recipe, you just came to the blog. Or you you talked to them face to face!
I miss those days.
A lot.

Of course when Instagram was down, I went to Twitter, to see what the heck was going on. Haah.

And we still don’t know why it’s down.
Soooooo. If you’re missing the ole days too, just sit back and relax,

and remember when it was all about making a freezer paper shirt, and posting it on the blog the next day.

Yay!
I’ll toss my hat to that.

And if you feel like chatting. I’m here!
I won’t even promote this post on Facebook.
Since I can’t.

It’s crazy that they were down and I didn’t even really notice until this evening. I guess I had a busy day? I do love to read blog posts, though, too, so this was refreshing.

    • 2) Dana

Haha. I didn’t realize till later in the day too!
      I guess that’s a good sign πŸ™‚

    • 3) Kathy

Dana, this gives me a chance to tell you that I read and watch you on you-tube every day! I thought the other day that since you’re so great at all you do…it would be a great idea if you put all those ideas in a book! Thanks for your great attitude and neat sewing ideas. Aside from that. You are a talented seamstress! Kathy

      • 4) Dana

Ah that’s a fun idea! Yea, that would be great….and helpful for me when I need to reference stuff. haha. πŸ˜‚
Thanks for the kind words Kathy!

  2. 5) Shelly

I still love the ritual of opening up m blog reader and reading through blog posts. I probably don’t click through to as many of them as I used to before the days of Facebook and IG but it’s so much more satisfying, like sitting down to a cup of coffee with my favorite bloggers. Thanks for the reminder!

    • 6) Dana

Aw that makes me happy to hear….like sitting down to chat with a good friend πŸ™‚
Makes me want to blog more! Thanks Shelly πŸ™‚

  3. 7) Jane

I love this! (Sure, I checked to see whether FB and Insta were back multiple times but still, I love this!)

    • 8) Dana

      Haha. Yes!
      Thanks Jane πŸ™‚

  4. 9) Masha

I still read blogs and prefer that to IG. I wish people blogged as much as they used to!

    • 10) Dana

That’s good to know! I love reading blogs too.
      Let’s start a comeback! πŸ™‚

  5. 11) Katie

I miss blogs all the time. I loved the simplicity and realness of it all. Everything is so sponsored now, with too much perfection and not enough REAL LIFE. Thank you for this fun blog post. Keep em’ coming!

    • 12) Dana

YESSSS to everything you said! I need to be better about blogging more regularly. Usually when I’m not it’s because I’m working on patterns! haha Thanks Katie for reading!

    • 13) Michelle

Ah! These photos! What a sweet throwback! I can’t remember the last time I made a freezer paper stencil, but I feel like now is a good time to teach the kids how. πŸ™‚

  6. 14) Emily

I didn’t even realize they were down until I saw news of it this morning! Ha!
I still love blogs and follow them on my blog reader, but I use instagram all the time too. Times change, I guess! Thanks for posting, I always love reading about your makes!

      Hahaha. Take me back! πŸ˜‚

  8. 17) PENNY

I am such a dinosaur! I am not on Facebook or Twitter or anything. Although I think I could read businesses Facebooks. I like to read blogs. I love to read anything Dana or Made because she is so cool and makes and does such cool thingsπŸ˜€she actually rocks! Have a good day everyone.

    • 18) Dana

Awww Thanks Penny! You are always the sweetest with your comments πŸ™‚
Thanks for following along all these years!

  9. 19) Stefanie

Your kids are gorgeous, such sweet faces.

  10. 20) Brenda

I’m still here! I check my Blogger news feed a couple times a week, and it keeps me up to date with the fewer-and-farther between posts from around the blogging world {#bloggernewsfeedforlyfe} And yes, I miss the good ol’ days when all my favorite bloggers posted more. Some of them are just totally gone, even on Instagram! And it makes me so so sad. I want to know what they’re up to and what beautiful things they are inevitably creating in their homes. Thanks for checking in, Dana!! Pictures of tiny Clara is giving me all the sweetness I needed this afternoon πŸ™‚

    • 21) Dana

Awww Thanks Brenda! And yes, I’m sad when some of my friends disappear like that. But then I also realize that they’re just livin’ their lives. But it’s funny when you’ve “met” them online….you still want to keep up with them! πŸ˜‚ Thanks for chiming in and for keeping up blogs! Love hearing that!

  11. 22) Leah F

    This was a delightful read!
Though only 40 I’ve avoided Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Blogs, however, are another story entirely! I have long loved yours. Thank you for a post from the good ole days. Gave me a huge smile.

    • 23) Dana

Haha. Thanks Leah! I love that “the good ole days” of blogging were only like 5 years ago πŸ˜‚
Thanks for reading and chiming in!

  12. 24) sophie

this is the only blog I like and read does this please mean that there will be more regular posts

    • 25) Dana

      Thanks Sophie!
I’ll try to post more. Life has gotten more busy as my kids have grown are involved in more activities. But I still love the blogging community!
So I’ll try my best πŸ™‚

That’s good to know. Thanks for chiming in Helen. πŸ™‚

  15. 29) Sharlyn

I don’t even know how to use Instagram! 😳. I get your blog updates in my emailπŸ˜‰. BTW, a book of your projects is an awesome idea!!

  16. 30) Mikea

Call me old school, but I deleted my social media after my first son was born 9 years ago and have no desire to go back. I like this post. All the pictures made me smile and want to get back to sewing like i used to.

    • 31) Dana

Haha. Old School or not, you’re probably the smartest among us for doing that πŸ™‚

  17. 32) Tiphaine

    Hi Dana,
long time no see!! I am off social media for nearly 3 years now. and I thought I would stop by here because I haven’t done it for some time. So here I am, saying hi and enjoying seeing your “babies'” faces. From this side of the ocean! have a lovely Sunday!

    • 33) Dana

Awww thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  18. 34) MicheLle

Ah! These photos! What a sweet throwback! I can’t remember the last time I made a freezer paper stencil, but I feel like now is a good time to teach the kids how. πŸ™‚

    • 35) Dana

YES! I still love me a good old freezer paper stencil! I just did it the other day for our Halloween costumes!

  19. 36) Denise Averesch

I love your crib sheet pattern . I have made one and its such a great way to make them but my daughters crib for her baby is a small crib mattress It measures 23″ x 38″ x5″ could you help me figure out measurements for this kind of mattress…I would really appreciate it.

  20. 37) Marissa

Yup! How crazy that I see this post recently, looking for tutorials, and I know your blog would have good ones. I used to read every entry, sometimes whole pages of archived entries at a time, but I hadn’t visited in many years. I guess I was on social media and I wasn’t looking at many blogs any more. And seeing your newer posts was really like seeing an old friend, and I couldn’t believe it, I recognized your kids’ pictures and even your youngest, I hadn’t seen since she was a lil potato. I actually thought your youngest was your oldest and thought wow! I’ve been reading about arts and crafts online for a long time!

    • 38) Dana

Haha. Isn’t it funny to grow up with people online like that. I’m glad you popped in πŸ™‚ and thanks for saying hi!

  21. 39) Ange_Moore

Just popped over here after what seems like forever – I can’t believe how grown up your kids are! Lucy and Owen no longer have their baby faces – even Clara has turned into a big girl. Loving all your projects and the fabric designs are fabulous.

    • 40) Dana

Thanks! I know they are all growing up way too fast.

  22. 41) Poppy

I love the pics of Lucy Owen and clara… And get it seems that you were only just blogging about Clara growing older yesterday!
Please carry on updating us with pictures as they will grow up as I love to see what they’ve been up to!!!
