Day 12: Christmas Crunch

Hello friends.
Happy Monday!
Sorry if you’re feeling overloaded with all the recipes. I promise I’ve been sewing and decorating our house. But it’s been so stinking cloudy for 2 weeks that my indoor photography is suffering. Yes, it is possible for me to complain about the TX heat and cold all in the same 3 month period.
So in the mean time….how about another super simple, super tasty, fun-to-give-as-a-gift recipe? It’s from a fellow texan friend–Kristen Duke! If you’re looking for cool photo tips, ideas, or for someone to take your family portraits, Kristen’s your lady. And she’s got a great beginner photography book called Say No to Auto. It’s the perfect size to fit right in your camera bag! But I’ll let her tell you more about her photo love and yummy Christmas Crunch….
———————————————————-
Hello friends! My name is Kristen Duke, and I am a portrait photographer in Austin, Texas.

Besides my love of taking and teaching photography, I also love to blog all things crafty, party, & home decor. Dana and I live just a few miles away from each other, but we’ve never met–shameful, isn’t it? Not for lack of intention. So I guess a little blog swap is the next best thing. I’m hoping that she’ll take over my blog for a day on my next series of Decorating with Portraits. I’m a mama to 4 children, who are growing up waaay too fast before my eyes, and a native Texan. I love what the blog community has to offer to women in being creative.
TODAY, I share with you my favorite holiday treat. I call it Christmas Crunch (I won’t be sad if you call it Kristen’s Christmas Crunch). I’ve been making it for so long–before blogs and pinterest–that I have no idea where it came from.
3 simple ingredients, and ready in under 20 minutes.
Are you game?
Christmas Crunch
2 reg. size bags or 1 large bag MINT M&M’s
1 bag pretzels sticks
1 package white almond bark

Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet before you prepare the other items. Melt the white chocolate at your preferred method (I use a glass bowl in the microwave for 1.5-2 minutes, stirring in the middle).
As it melts, mix the m&m’s and pretzels in another bowl. Once the chocolate is all melted nicely, pour it into the mix. Stir.
To speed up the hardening process, you can place it in the freezer for 10 minutes or allow to set for 20 minutes or so. Brake it up and serve.
We took it to a party on a dish like this:
Next week we will be delivering them to friends and teachers in a bag with an ornament like this:
We get rave reviews every time!
Thanks, Dana for letting me share my treat! For those of you interested in photography, I’ve got a simple tutorial on my blog today for getting that fun holiday bokeh (the blurring of the Christmas tree lights). Come check it out! You can also find me on facebook, where I like to share Freebie’s on Fridays. Merry Christmas!
