How to Fix your Header in Blogger

So, last night I was at whits end and posted about how I couldn’t upload my header without it looking blurry and pixelated (blasted Blogger). Apparently many people are experiencing the same thing.

YUCK:

Thankfully I took some of your advice to upload my photo through Photobucket. And it worked!

YAY!

And thus, I deleted the original post. But duh! I should have left it up since many of you emailed me saying you were having the same problem. So here’s the solution! (until Blogger gets it fixed)….

* upload your photo/header to Photobucket. If you don’t have an account, set up one for FREE. You need this to obtain a direct link (an html address) for your photo. Now you might think you can do this through sites such as flickr, etc. But it doesn’t seem to work. Photobucket is the answer.

* Copy the direct link from Photobucket, go back to blogger, and when uploading your header, paste the direct link in the “from the web” box, instead of uploading “from my computer””.
Wait for the image thumbnail to load, hit Save, and you should be set!

Thank you Blogger for giving us free blogs…..and for teaching us how to jump through hoops. You’re the reason I’ve learned anything about html and how to all of your settings to fit my needs.

Hopefully this helps a few of you!

  1. THANK YOU!!! I have just spent hours making and re making my header in photoshop and trying all kinds of weird PPI and save for web and I was so stressed out. Of course, I should have just googled it earlier, but I was afraid I’d get all kinds of techical information that I couldn’t understand…..but no, I find you blog and a simple explination! Go check out my new non blurry header!! yea! Thanks again!

  2. You just made my day!
I’ve spent the last two hours and and after a bunch of html coding, all it took was replacing the uploaded image with the hosted link. Duh! šŸ™‚

    Thank you!

  4. Thank you so much for sharing this!! I’ve tried so many times to get the image to work and even tried Flickr. Nothing worked until I found this! I was at my wits end, so I’m thankful that you shared these tips!

  5. Thank you thank you thank you for this post! I’ve been demented trying to work out how to get rid of a blurred header!:)

  6. You don’t actually need to do it through Photobucket. Simply insert the image into a hidden page on your blog, or any page for that matter, right click the image and copy link location. Use that link, per procedures above, instead of a Photobucket link.
    Hope this helps šŸ™‚

Thanks Gary! Photobucket didn’t work for me, but I made a separate page and inserted the header image there. I copied the link address, and Viola! THANK YOU!

  7. How I wish I’d found your post 2 hours ago! I was ready to bang my head against the wall, since my header was blurry no matter what I did! Thank you for the great tip!!

  8. Haha your last paragraph really spoke for me. Blogger just have to make things a little bit more difficult to educate us… when I decided to start a blog I meant to start ‘posting’ not to learn html all again. (sigh)

PROBLEM IS THAT NOWADAYS BLOGGER DOESN’T ALLOW THE OPTION OF “FROM THE INTERNET,” ONLY “UPLOAD FROM MY COMPUTER.”

Also, I should add, I have a dynamic design template on Blogger, and I’m finding it really limited. I just can’t get a decent image in my header…any tricks around that one?
