Happy rural Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours! I hope you’ve had a day of turkey, tasty eats, and good conversation. We’ve spent the day doing much of the same. Only the weather is far colder than we’re used to in Austin.
Anyone recognize that red rock?
Our morning was spent preparing,
with pie shells waiting for fillings.
And while things simmered on the stove, I went for a walk.
Because being out of the city is a good feeling and far too picturesque.
Back at the house….
Owen and Uncle Brady wore orange and gray,
four turkeys were dug out of the smoke pit, where they were cooked all night.
They were super moist, very flavorful, and well…..I’m already dreaming about eating more tomorrow.
Center pieces for the 20 tables came together…..
with twigs from the yard, glass bottles,
and lots of Thankful leaves (each person wrote what they were thankful for and attached them to the branches).
Easy way to decorate for 120 people (my husband’s entire extended family – aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. Thankfully his uncle has a huge octagonal room to fit us all! – it was built especially for these occasions.)

And finally, we feasted.
Yum. Only one hour till pie time! (the family program comes first)

I have much to be thankful for in my life. I’m blessed with a wonderful husband and two cheerful, energetic kids. I live in a place filled with freedoms, opportunities, and friendly people. I feel happy. I feel healthy. And I have a network of penpals worldwide, thanks to the internet and blogging. Seriously, how amazing is it that I can meet another stay-at-home mom, who loves to sew and create, and runs a parallel life to my own…yet lives in Denmark or Malaysia or a small town in Michigan?! I’m definitely thankful for the world wide web. And so, I must say thank you to YOU! Thanks for stopping by, reading, leaving a comment here or there, and for sharing your ideas and blogs with me as well. You’re the reason I enjoy blogging. Today, I’m thankful for you.
Happy November 25th!
Technical UPDATE: A few of you that use Google Chrome as your browser have mentioned problems with my blog posts squishing all the way to left. I tried it in GC yesterday and haven’t seen anything weird. So I’m not really sure what to recommend other than trying another browser? I’m sorry for the inconvenience! I wish I had better answers! And I hope you continue to read!

If you haven’t entered yet, there FIVE days left for the Tamron Lens Giveaway! (ends November 30th)
